Frequently Asked Questions

  • Acupuncture is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that involves the gentle insertion of very fine, sterile needles to stimulate specific points on the body. These points are located along meridians or “channels” that are finely interconnected with each other and their corresponding organs. Acupuncture aims to support the body’s natural healing processes by promoting the free flow of Qi and Blood, restoring balance, and improving overall wellbeing.

  • Acupuncture may be used to support a wide range of concerns, including stress, anxiety, pain, headaches, digestive issues, sleep disturbances, hormonal imbalance, menstrual and fertility-related concerns, and general wellbeing. Treatment plans are always tailored to the individual to ensure appropriate treatment is used for best results.

Acupuncture can also be used for cosmetic purposes, promoting blood flow and healing in areas of cosmetic concern. This may include fine lines, areas of collagen loss; as well as scarring from surgeries, injury or skin conditions - Cosmetic Acupuncture is also based on TCM principles, not just working on the surface level but also from an internal holistic perspective. • Most people feel little to no pain. You may notice a brief sensation when the needle is inserted, such as a light pinch, warmth, heaviness, or tingling. Many clients find treatments deeply relaxing.

  • When performed by a qualified practitioner, acupuncture is very safe. Dr. Iesha Coombes (TCM) is a degree qualified acupuncturist and Chinese medicine practitioner, registered with AHPRA, the CMBA, and is a member of AACMA.

Single-use, sterile needles are used for each individual client and we follow strict infection control and hygiene standards in the clinic.
